About the event
CLAYground is a monthly chance to simply see and seriously play.
We’re throwing the doors wide open on the first Friday of every month! Come to cavort with us. CLAYground is a night of experimental performance by a different guest artist each time. It’s a place for hearts in mouth and to test new ideas. Bring your curious pals and your great chat and observe experiments come to life, where difference is celebrated.
CLAYground presents:
Luke Beech uses CLAYground to reclaim the Snooker table for Queer and Mad identifying communities. Join Beech as he experiments a live-art-meets-educator approach to interpreting Man Ray and Sherrie Levine’s La Fortune pieces through Happening. In his CLAYground session, Beech is considering how liveness and alternative education can become an alternative space to build on, explore and question themes that have emerged from his upcoming solo exhibition. The baize of the snooker table becomes a metaphor for homogenized green space, ecocide and gentrification… “places and spaces we are displaced from” - He invites those communities to reclaim that space and take agency over them, through picnic.
Booking is advised There is a reservation fee of £3.50 per person and the price of the ticket will get you that amount off your first round of drinks unless you decide to donate the cost to CLAY.
