CLAYground is a chance to simply see and seriously play.

On the first Friday of every month, we throw the doors wide open for you to come and cavort with us.

Bring your curious pals and your great chat and observe new artistic ideas and experiments come to life, or even just for a drink and some lovely company.

Addressing the erasure of queer and trans narratives and objects in museum collections and archives, this work recitifies; exploring accessioning, packing and body as archive.

Bring your queer objects - photographs, locks of hair, ring pull from your date’s drink, a battered doc marten, faggot badge, carabiner, your ex’s beanie - where there will be the opportunity for you to pack and preserve them to industry quality.

Claye uses his experience as a Museum Registrar (with roles at Leeds Museums & Galleries, the Royal Armouries and Tate) to inform his art practice aesthetically and politically, as well as stealing all the skills. His recent work has focused on his transitioning body but he’s bored of that so archives are back baby.

How to get involved!

This night is an opportunity for Local Artists or Artists working with CLAY to play with an idea, work or concept in a relaxed environment , with a friendly audience and generous spirit.

If you would like to collaborate with us to host a CLAYground get in touch!
